Adding a Clickable Image to your Sidebar is more important than you know! Having clickable images on your sidebar can help your readers navigate your site, which in turn will help them stay your site longer. Consider adding images to your sidebar that feature your Most Popular Recipe/Post, Your Most PINNED Post, etc
I use PicMonkey to edit and size my photos. Make sure that your photo is the correct size for your sidebar. Typical sidebars range from 250-350.
Once your picture is ready, you need to login your wordpress site. Add your image to your media library. The easiest way that I’ve found is click the “new” button at the top and then selecting Media. Upload your picture. You will see the file URL, save this for later as you will need to paste it in place of the GREEN text below.
Next, in your dashboard, click on Appearance, then Widgets. From your available widgets list, select the “text” widget. Drag into the correct spot in your widget layout.
The text widget box will open. Copy and paste this text:
<a href="http://insert your link here"><img src="http://your image source here"></a>
Replace the RED text with the link you’d like your readers to land when they click the image. For the GREEN text you need to add the URL from the image you uploaded to your site.
Refresh your site to see if it worked. Be sure to go slow and move carefully through the instructions. Good luck!
