I was very excited when I was offered the opportunity to sample some of the Wholesome Chow products! Immediately I knew that I HAD to try the lemon poppy muffins and the chocolate lavender cake. The products are all gluten free, vegan and allergy friendly. The products do not contain any peanuts or tree nuts. All products are made in a dedicated allergy free facility! You can read more about the awesomeness that is Wholesome Chow on their OUR STORY tab.
I have been reading so many recipes with lavender in them, but I had not tried any. I was SUPER excited to be able to try this chocolate lavender cake mix! The mix smelled wonderful as I was baking it and it tasted great. What a grown up sweet taste! It passed the test of both my kids and the neighbors (who eat gluten and all the other allergens we avoid). Its always a GREAT sign when it passes the test of those who do not eat allergen free. You want products to be GOOD, not just “good for gluten free.” These products are GOOD! The frosting mix was SUPER easy to whip up in my mixer and tasted great. I had left over so I saved it and ate it atop some GF graham crackers! Shhh, that is a secret! My family didn’t know I had extra!
Lemon has always been one of my favorite flavors. Its just such a light and happy flavor! The muffins were easy to make and tasted great. The lemon flavor was perfect! It wasn’t too strong and it wasn’t too weak…it was just right! I baked mine a little longer than the directions. I like my lemon muffins on the crunchier side. Perfect to dip into my morning coffee! I was able to get the outside with a slight crunch and the inside was still soft. PERFECTION!
I was also lucky enough to try the All Purpose GF flour! I didn’t create an original recipe with it, but I did use it in several existing recipes. It worked perfect for baking and for thickening soups!
A HUGE thank you to Wholesome Chow for letting me try their products. I am happy to share my thoughts with you! I hope that I will have a lasting relationship with Wholesome Chow…their products are GREAT!Tweet
