This is the perfect appetizer or party snack. Serve this with my vegetarian gluten-free fried pickles for a really zesty platter.
For some random reason, I have been really hungry for a cheese ball and crackers. It was always something that I’d enjoy when going to a party or get together. But our lifestyle now doesn’t really lend itself to your average cheese ball.
Many times you will find meat mixed into a cheese ball and they are often coated with nuts. And of course, they are made with dairy. Certainly doesn’t lend itself well to a vegetarian family who has little ones with food allergies! So I set out to create a cheese ball the entire family could enjoy!
Keep in mind that if you can consume dairy you can just swap out the “dairy free” items in the recipe!

How to Make a Vegan Cheeseball Without Nuts
This is an allergy-friendly recipe. There are no nuts and no gluten. To make this, all you need is dairy-free cream cheese and non-dairy cheese.
If you are a vegetarian that enjoys dairy, you can make this with dairy cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese.
Ingredients for a vegan cheeseball
These are the ingredients in my vegan cheeseball:
- Dairy-Free Cream Cheese
- Shredded Dairy Free Cheese
- Worcestershire Sauce (make sure its vegan)
- Cayenne Pepper
- Black Olives
- Green Pepper
If you are looking for a vegan Worcestershire Sauce and can’t find it in the store. I sometimes buy my gluten free and vegan Worcestershire Sauce from Amazon (affiliate ad link)
The complete instructions are right below, in the recipe card. Here’s an overview. This is such an easy recipe that even your kids can help make it.
1. Mix the cheese
I used an electric mixer. But you can use your arms with a spoon. Mixing both kinds of cheese together is tough and requires lots of effort though.
2. Add the Spices
After the cheese is all mixed you can add all the spices.
3. Mix In the Veggies
At this step, I added in the pepper and olives. Of course, you can add in different veggies too! Just make sure they are chopped up tiny enough so they mix in well with the cheese.
4. Roll Into A Ball and Chill
Finally, just roll it into a ball. Wrap it with plastic wrap and let it chill in the refrigerator!
How long does a cheeseball last in the fridge?
Check on your cheeseball after about a day. Most vegan cheeseballs only last about 24-48 hours. Mostly the texture will change and you’ll notice it won’t be as appetizing.
- 8 oz cream cheese softened (dairy free or dairy)
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese non dairy Daiya cheese or dairy
- 1/2 t Worcestershire sauce make sure its gf and vegan
- pinch cayenne
- 1/4 cup finely chopped black olives
- 1/4 c finely chopped green pepper Or alternatively green onions
- Using an electric mixer or your strong arms mix together cream cheese and cheddar until smooth.
- Next, add Worcestershire and cayenne. Mix to blend ingredients together.
- Add olive and pepper. Mix until completely blended.
- Roll into a ball, place in 'plastic wrap' and chill 1 hour.
- Serve with crackers, ENJOY!
OPTIONAL: roll in diced green onions
