It’s relaxing and no matter what state you’re in, there is always a camping spot to be found. Ohio isn’t a state where people automatically think of camping when wanting to visit.
However, Ohio is home to many beautiful camping spots that are well worth the effort. Here are a few of my favorites that I would like to share with you.
Hocking Hills State Park – If anyone is familiar with Ohio, they probably already know this state park which is located in Laurelville, Ohio. This is one of Ohio’s best state parks not only to visit for the day but to camp at.
Alum Creek State Park – Home to Ohio’s largest inland beach and located in Delaware, Ohio, this state park has over 3,000 acres of land that will take the nature lover’s breath away. With trails, paddle boating, canoeing, and more, your camping experience will be one to remember.
Shawnee State Park – If you thought those other campgrounds were amazing, imagine 63,000 acres of forestry and fun at your campground! This state park is located in Portsmouth, Ohio and is thousands of acres of fun just waiting to be had.
Pride Valley Campground – Located in Malvern, OH, this is one of the cheapest places you will ever camp. At only a $1 a day, you can camp, fish, swim, hunt, and more. You won’t be bored if you camp here!
South Bass Island State Park – Located in Put-In-Bay, Ohio, this campground I located on the tops of the cliffs overlooking the island. It’s not as large as the other campgrounds but offers a beautiful view and just as much fun.
These are just five of the beautiful campgrounds that Ohio has to offer. A quick internet search will show you hundreds of beautiful, breathtaking spots to camp. Most camping spots will even offer cheap fun that can last a full vacation. It’s hard to leave after you’ve experienced the beauty of the outdoors in Ohio.

I am not much of a camper, but Ohio is a great place to visit. My family and I have been to quite a few places in the past few years!

Perfect timing! My in-laws are taking their RV that direction. Sharing this list with them so they can check them out!

I honestly have to say, I have never been a huge fan of Ohio. After seeing all of these gorgeous spots, I think I have to rethink my perceptions.

We love camping together as a family. Normally we prefer the woods over the beach, here in California. These Ohio options are just lovely.

I was just telling my friend that I want to camp so badly. This is the only way that I have not tried and I think it will make travelling much easier.
