BBQ season is among us. With all those back yard BBQs comes lots of delicious side dishes! That is one thing that I LOVE! Basically, I am a pasta salad and a potato salad addict!
This time around, we are using a macaroni type salad that features dill. I love using fresh herbs in my cooking. The use of fresh herbs in dishes really elevates the taste!
How to Make Macaroni Salad
There are lots of ways to personalize your macaroni salad. What are your favorite flavors? Combine them with your noodles.
I personally enjoy a creamy salad. And this recipe is extra creamy with the mayo and mustard that I used. If you are not a huge mustard fan, you can certainly decrease the amount used. The salad will still be tasty and creamy too!
Ingredients for Creamy Pasta Salad
Here are the ingredients I used for my pasta salad, but change it up and add whatever raw veggies you want.
- Pasta of choice
- Fresh dill
- Cubed cheddar cheese
- Yellow mustard
- Pickle Juice
- Pickle relish
- Dill pickles
What types of noodles are best for pasta salad?
The pasta is a huge focus of this dish. Your pasta needs to be not only delicious but sturdy. We choose my favorite pasta for this recipe. It’s organic chickpea fusilli and you should try it!

This creamy dill macaroni salad or pasta salad (you can call it whatever you want!) is the most delicious the day you make it. You can certainly eat it the day after if you wish, but I prefer it the day of! Chances are you won’t have leftovers!

- 8 oz Explore Cuisine Organic Fusili
- 1/4 c yellow mustard
- 1 c mayo
- 1 T pickle juice
- 2 T sweet pickle relish
- 1/4 c dill pickles chopped
- 8 oz mild cheddar cheese block cubed
- 2 fresh dill
Prepare pasta per the directions on the box. When cooked, rinse under cold water. Set aside.
Mix mustard, mayo, pickle juice and relish. Toss with pasta.
Mix in pickles and cheese block with the pasta mixture. Chill for 30 minutes.
Top with dill and ENJOY!
