What is pineapple pretzel salad?
Is creamy pineapple pretzel salad a salad or a dessert? Really that is a great question. I do not honestly know why its called a salad. I personally think it is more of a dessert.

This pretzel salad with pineapple and cherries is such a sweet treat. I did not add any additional sugar, where other recipes do. I felt that this pineapple pretzel combo was perfect the way it is!
The pineapple brings the sweet and the tart to this dish. The cherries add some additional sweetness and the pretzels bring the crunch!
Pretzels Replace The Nuts
Food allergies seem to be on the rise here in the United States. If you search for analytics on food allergies, you will find that there is an average of 1 food allergy child among every 13 children.
That is almost 2 in each classroom! That’s a lot. You may or may not notice that on our site we actually feature recipes that are nut-free. The pretzels in this recipe take the place of where nuts might typically be!
The pretzels provide the crunch needed for this gluten-free recipe. I used gluten-free pretzels to make this dish gluten-free for me!
Avoid Pretzels Sticking to the Pan
Many other recipes mix the pretzel into the recipe itself, which can lead to problems of the pretzels sticking to the pan. Not in this pineapple pretzel dessert!
These delicious pretzels are simply crushed and placed on top of the gluten-free dessert!
