It is almost back to school time! This summer has flown! We are always looking at recipes to see which ones we can make quickly on those busy nights!
This Easy Spanish Rice recipe falls into that category. I love that it uses common ingredients that I can stock in my pantry!
We love that this dish is literally a dump and go type of dish! We often make this dish as a main course or a side dish! If you want a bit of a twist, add some olives and make this Spanish Rice with Olives recipe.
What is the best rice for Spanish rice?
Honestly, there isn’t really a best type of rice. Just use whichever rice and method that is your favorite.
You can use instant rice or brown rice. We used dry rice and cooked it in the rice cooker.
How to Make Spanish Rice the Easy Way
This recipe could not be any easier. But I’ll break it down into steps so you can make it too.
The first step is to buy all the ingredients. You might have most of them on hand already.
- Picante sauce
- Black Beans
The star of the dish is The Original Picante Sauce by Pace. This sauce brings the real southwest Spanish style flavor to the dish. It is made with hand-picked vegetables and kicks the taste up a notch in this dish. We picked up our sauce at our local Walmart store.
There are literally only two steps. After you make it once, you’ll never go back to making it any other way.
- Cook the Rice – This is where you cook your favorite rice your way. You can use pre-cooked rice or brown rice. All of them work perfectly.
- Combine everything and bake! After you cook the rice, mix it with all the other ingredients. Then, put them into a casserole dish and bake it. That’s it!
Serve it with fresh cilantro on top for a burst of flavor.
Not only does this dish taste delicious when you serve it but it makes for a great leftover lunch the following day! I always pack up some of this dish for my husband to take into work. We have also been enjoying V8 + Energy! Our favorite flavor is the pomegranate blueberry. The drink tastes delicious like fruit and have 50 calories per serving!

Easy Spanish Rice
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 1 can black beans drained and rinsed
- 1 cup Pace Picante Sauce
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- cilantro for garnish
- Mix all ingredients into a prepared casserole bowl, except cilantro. Mix well.
- Bake at 350 for 20 minutes or until warm.
- Serve topped with fresh cilantro!
