Everything about this mixed berry fruit salad screams “SUMMER TIME!” Sorry, I didn’t mean to yell, but sometimes the thought of warmer weather returning gets to me.
Warmer weather means, more family time outside. It means that life slows down again. I love every second of summer!
Our family are HUGE lovers of fruit fresh. We LOVE berries, in particular! There is a certain weekend that comes each year that brings a smile to my face. That magical weekend happens around the same time of the year.
That special weekend I am talking about is one that when I walk into my favorite grocery store, I see all the amazing berries. It is then I know that warm weather is coming and produce will be fresh, plentiful and delicious again.
Its crazy how much you start to celebrate those moments when you depend so much on tasty fresh fruit!
As you can see from the pictures, this berry salad is pretty simple. We have included some of our favorite berries in there!
I know, I know, watermelon is not a berry but we included it in there for good measure. There is nothing better than some sweet refreshing watermelon on a HOT summer day!
Berry Fruit Salad Ingredients
Let’s take a deep dive into how amazing these fruits are! Shall we?
Blueberries – I personally adore blueberries because they are low in calories but high in flavor and amazing things for you! Blueberries can range in color from blue to purple. These little berries are full of antioxidants! A while back, we created a mouthwatering blueberry french toast casserole! You have to check that out.
Raspberries – These little red berries are super delicious. In our house, they don’t seem to last long. Raspberries are full of vitamin C and dietary fiber! You might remember from a while back, that we made a delicious and dairy-free raspberry breakfast casserole.
Strawberries – These berries are fun to pick, if you happen to have a strawberry field near you. Around here, in Ohio, they happen to ripen in May and June. The window is small, but we love to pick strawberries! It is said that strawberries can protect for a range of diseases. It is said that strawberries can positively benefit heart disease, stroke, blood pressure and more. Love strawberries? Then you must check out our easy roasted strawberry shake.
Watermelon – This fruit is also a featured ingredient in this mixed berry fruit salad, though it is not a berry. Watermelon grow on a vine with a fleshy green outside that is rarely eaten. The inside is the sweet treat! Many people think that watermelons are just a huge ball of water. Well, they are quite refreshing but they do provide benefits as well as great taste.
