Hi Chip, that is a great question. I wasn&#039;t too sure so I had to research that a bit.  So both are the same ingredient but the course grind is much different.  The grits are much larger. So in this case I would think that the grits would be thicker, but the johnycake corn meal would be much smoother.  I think :) I hope that helps :)]]></description>
