Homemade Oatmeal, page 178, breakfast, vegetarian

Nothing beats a bowl of good oatmeal. Oats are an excellent source of fiber, B vitamins and iron. There are quick-cooking gluten-free varieties available on the market, which makes oatmeal an excellent choice for busy lifestyles!


  • 3 1 ⁄4 cups water 800 mL
  • 2 cups pure uncontaminated quick-cooking 500 mL
  • rolled oats
  • 1 ⁄4 cup pure maple syrup 60 mL
  • 1 ⁄2 tsp ground cinnamon 2 mL
  • 1 cup raspberries 250 mL


  • In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil over high heat. Stir in oats until combined. Reduce heat to medium, cover and simmer for about 7 minutes or until desired consistency.
  • Stir in maple syrup and cinnamon.
  • Divide evenly among individual serving bowls. Fold in raspberries.
