Christmas Chocolate Covered Strawberries are so fun for the holiday season! Have fun decorating strawberries for Christmas with sprinkles and candy melts. They're an easy no-bake holiday treat.
Why This Christmas Chocolate Covered Strawberries Recipe is So Good
- Quick and Easy: While I'll be sharing some cute decorations that might take a few minutes, you can skip them and decorate strawberries easily with Christmas sprinkles instead. They look amazing either way.
- Mix and Match: Use white chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or semisweet chocolate chips to dip strawberries. I like to use both white and dark for some variation.
- No Bake Dessert: Melt the chocolate in the microwave, or use a double boiler if you prefer. There's no need to turn on the oven when you're making Christmas chocolate covered strawberries. You can be using the oven for more important things, like holiday cookies, Christmas Pretzels, or your main dish.
- If you love Christmas like I do, you want everything to be Christmas themed! Christmas food, Christmas Jammies, Christmas Songs and even Christmas Nails!

Tips and Tricks for Making Fun Christmas Chocolate Covered Strawberries
- Be Sure the Berries are Dry: Chocolate won't stick to anything that is wet, so after you wash the strawberries, dry them with paper towels, then let them sit to fully air dry.
- Be Careful! Melted Chocolate and candy melts can burn you. Be safe, please.
- If you want to decorate with sprinkles, be sure to sprinkle them on the chocolate while it's still wet. Otherwise, they won't stick.
- If you want to add candy decorations, let the chocolate covering the strawberries harden first.
- Instead of Red and Green Candy Melts, try pre-made decorator's icing, or tinted royal icing.
How To Decorate Christmas Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Here's how I accomplished some of the designs you see here. Feel free to get creative though, and make your Christmas chocolate strawberries with any designs that you like!
P.S. The easiest way to decorate Christmas Chocolate Covered Strawberries is with sprinkles! Be sure to add them before the chocolate hardens.
- Christmas Lights: Use leftover melted semi-sweet chocolate and place it in a piping bag. Start at the top of the strawberry and make a loopy string until you reach the bottom of the strawberry. Use the red and green candy melts to make Christmas light blobs along the string. Alternatively, you could use larger colorful sprinkles to make the Christmas lights.
- Christmas Trees: Start at the top of the strawberry and pipe a very short horizontal line. As you go down the strawberry, let the line get longer horizontally until you create a triangle. Immediately sprinkle with colorful nonpareils for ornaments and top with a yellow star sprinkle for the tree topper.
- Stripes: Use a fork dipped in the red and green candy melts to squiggle the candy melts over the chocolate-covered strawberries. Do one color at a time. Alternatively, you can place the red and green candy melts into separate piping bags. Go back and forth horizontally over the strawberries until you have the number of lines that you want.

Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh strawberries stems attached
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 8 oz white chocolate chips
- 2 tsp vegetable oil or shortening divided
- 2 tbsp holiday sprinkles
- 4 oz green candy melts or green frosting
- 4 oz red candy melts or red frosting
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper. Set aside. Wash your strawberries and dry completely on a plate lined with paper towels.
- Place the semi-sweet chocolate chips and white chocolate chips into two separate heat-proof bowls. Add 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil to each of the bowls and toss to combine.
- Microwave each bowl in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until the chocolates are melted. This should take about 60-90 seconds total.
- Insert a wood skewer into the stemmed end of the strawberry. Dip each strawberry into one of the melted chocolates until completely covered. Tap off any excess chocolate.
- Place the strawberries onto the prepared baking sheet.
- If covering with sprinkles, add those immediately. Otherwise, let the chocolate dry.
- Add the red and green candy melts to separate heat safe bowls. Melt in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Place into pastry bags or ziploc bags with the tip cut off. Or, you can use a fork to drizzle to candy melts over the strawberries.
- Decorate as desired. Top with more sprinkles if you’d like.
- Let the strawberries set completely before serving. Keep refrigerated if not serving right away. Best served within 24 hours.
