MASON JAR COLD BREW RECIPE

There are a few different ways that you can make cold coffee at home, but this ball jar recipe is our favorite.

There is no need to spend lots of money on expensive coffeeshop cold brew when you can so easily make it at home.

Mason jars come in all sizes and in our recipe below we give you measurements for various sizes!

You can enjoy coffee on it’s own or you can pair it with something sweet like Vegan Banana Pudding or this Cherry Delight recipe!

INGREDIENTS FOR MASON JAR COLD BREW

Coffee – Yep, this probably seems like a no brainer but GROUND coffee is the main ingredient here. Generally, you want a medium roast coffee when you are making cold brew.

Water – You can use tap or filtered water.

HOW TO MAKE MASON JAR COLD BREW

These instructions are for a 2 quart mason jar. For a one quart jar, please cut the recipe in half.

  1. Get out all your supplies that you need. Freshly ground coffee, water, mason jar and filter.
  2. Put the mesh filter into the mason far. Using a funnel (Or just being very careful) pour the freshly ground coffee into the filter.
  3. Pour the water into the mason jar.
  4. Attach the lid to the mason jar.
  5. Put the mason jar into your fridge for 24 hours.
  6. Remove the filter from the mason jar. Enjoy your cold brew coffee.

WHAT COFFEE MAKES THE BEST COLD BREW?

Generally, you want a medium roast coffee when you are making cold brew. For the best (and freshest) flavor, grind the coffee yourself.

MY MASON JAR COLD BREW TASTES BITTER

If your mason jar cold brew tastes bitter you can adjust the taste by diluting the mixture. Simple add some water, stir and try again. Continue to add more water until you reach the desired taste.

MASON JAR COLD BREW TIPS

This might be very strong for some tastes and considered a concentrate. You can add as much or as little water to the mixture to make it the desirable strength for your tastes.

If you are using a 2 quart mason jar, you can use this kit from amazon. For measurements use 2 cups ground coffee and 6 cups water.

If you are using a pint ball jar for cold brew, you can use this kit from amazon. For measurements use 1/2 cup ground coffee and 1.5 cup water.

You can use regular or decaf coffee to make this cold brew recipe.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH MASON JAR COLD BREW

I have to say that I would serve this coffee with my delicious vegan banana pudding!

It would make the most perfect afternoon snack! Give it a try!
