<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tips and Tricks for Making Pumpkin Spice Syrup</h2>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>If you don't have all of the spices listed in the recipe, don't worry about it it. You can simply use the ones you have, or you can use pumpkin pie spice instead. </li>



<li>If you have cinnamon sticks but no ground cinnamon, just toss two sticks into the pan. They will infuse the syrup with all of that warm goodness as it cooks. </li>



<li>Don't add the vanilla extract until the very end. It will give you the most flavor if you don't cook it with the other ingredients. </li>



<li>You'll know that your syrup is ready when it coats the back of your spoon. Make sure you cook it all the way to that point. </li>



<li>To make the best pumpkin spice latte, just stir in 2 or 3 tablespoons of this syrup to the espresso before you add the milk. </li>



<li>Or, just mix this syrup in with your regular morning coffee. I like to use a <a href="https://amzn.to/3qJJeIJ" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">hand-held frother</a> to get it really well mixed. </li>



<li>Replace the water in this recipe with milk or your favorite dairy-free milk. The syrup will caramelize even more and get thick and creamy. </li>

<p>Syrup recipes are pretty simple to make and you can use them for a variety of things! Think: coffees, cocktails, iced teas, lemonades and even over some ice cream! So if a pumpkin spice latte is not your thing, as you can see there are plenty of ways to use this sugar free pumpkin spice syrup!&nbsp;</p>



<p>So while we call this sugar free pumpkin spice syrup, we acknowledge that pumpkin does have some natural sugars. Our recipe is a no sugar added type of recipe.&nbsp;</p>

It is a sugar replacement. It is <strong>not a 1-1 replacement</strong>, however most people do use it that way and do not notice a problem. If you do not want a sugar substitute, you can use real sugar here.&nbsp;</li>



<li><strong>Pumpkin puree</strong> - When you're shopping, look for 100% pure &nbsp;<a href="https://amzn.to/3iL6a5Z" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">pumpkin puree</a>, <strong>not pumpkin pie filling</strong>.</li>



<li><strong>Water</strong> - Flat water is what we need here. You can use<strong> tap or refrigerated water.&nbsp;</strong></li>



<li><strong>Vanilla extract</strong> - I love the <strong>extra richness and depth</strong> that <a href="https://amzn.to/3qJEUct" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">vanilla extract</a> adds to recipes! While you do use a small amount, it adds so much!</li>



<li><a href="https://amzn.to/3tPehVB" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow"><strong>Ground cinnamon</strong></a> - &nbsp;There's so much <strong>fall flavor</strong> packed into cinnamon. It's a great spice for both savory or sweet dishes. This will make our pumpkin spice syrup a little sweeter!</li>



<li><strong>Ground ginger</strong> - We love <a href="https://amzn.to/36VtoDA" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">ground ginger</a> because it adds another <strong>layer of flavor</strong> to this syrup!</li>

<li>If you do not like erythritol, you can also use other <strong>sugar-free granulated sweeteners </strong>such as stevia or xylitol.</li>



<li>Out of ground spices? If you don’t have ground cinnamon, you can add two <a href="https://amzn.to/3qJJ3Nz%5C" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow"><strong>whole cinnamon sticks</strong></a> to the pan to infuse instead, and remove them after cooking and cooling.</li>



<li>Do not have all the spices? You can <strong>sub in pumpkin pie spice</strong> instead of the individual spices. I would use 2 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice as a substitute for the nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon. This will give your syrup a warm cozy flavor!</li>



<li>Sometimes you might have a little trouble blending up your sugar free pumpkin spice syrup into a beverage. If that is the case, try heating up and blend with a <a href="https://amzn.to/3qJJeIJ" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">frother</a>. This works especially well in coffee!</li>

<p>The term simple syrup is given to a mixture that is made from sugar and water, or another liquid. The liquid is heated so that the sugar will melt. </p>



<p>Simple syrup is used in bars and coffee shops to sweeten drinks. <strong>Simple syrup is better than sugar for cold drinks, because the sugar is already dissolved.</strong> You won't end up with granules of undissolved sugar at the bottom of your iced coffee or iced tea if you sweeten it with simple syrup. </p>



<p><strong>Peach simple syrup is the perfect sweetener for iced tea.</strong> It's like summer in a jar! A tablespoon or two added to a tall, icy glass of sun tea or an<a href="https://vegetarianmamma.com/iced-matcha-latte/"> iced matcha latte</a> is just divine!</p>

<p><strong>Sugar:</strong> Granulated sugar is the basic building block of any simple syrup! </p>



<p><strong>Peaches: </strong>For this amount of simple syrup, you will want to use 4 ripe peaches, peeled and sliced. If fresh peaches aren't available, you can also use frozen peaches that you've thawed. </p>



<p><strong>Water:</strong> To make a simple syrup, you'll use the same amount of water as sugar. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">HOW TO MAKE PEACH SIMPLE SYRUP</h3>



<ol class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Gather and prepare your ingredients. </strong>Peel and roughly slice the peaches, and measure out the right amount of water and sugar. Freshly squeeze a lemon for its juice. </li>



<li><strong>Add all of the ingredients to a saucepan</strong> and stir to combine. </li>



<li><strong>Heat on medium heat until the mixture begins to boil.</strong> Then <strong>reduce the heat to low and let it cook, simmering for 15 minutes</strong>. Stir occasionally. </li>



<li>Remove the pan from the heat and <strong>let the mixture cool for 1 hour</strong>. After it has cooled and the flavor has steeped, <strong>remove the peaches by straining the mixture through a fine sieve. </strong></li>



<li><strong>Discard the peach pulp</strong>, leaving behind a beautiful, golden peach syrup.</li>



<li><strong>Transfer the syrup to a jar</strong> or another airtight container for storage.</li>
</ol>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">HOW TO STORE PEACH SIMPLE SYRUP</h3>



<p>If you aren't going to use your simple syrup right away, you can<strong> store it in the fridge for up to two weeks</strong>! I like to keep mine in a glass jar in the door of the fridge. Then I can easily grab it to pour into drinks!</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">PEACH TIPS</h3>



<p><strong>Using Frozen Peaches:</strong> If you want to use frozen peaches to make a simple syrup, you'll want to use about 1 ½ cups of frozen peach slices. You can let them thaw first, or put them into the pot still frozen. It will just take a bit longer to boil. </p>



<p><strong>To Peel Peaches: </strong>It's super simple to peel peaches using boiling water! Cut a small x into the bottom of each peach. Drop the peaches into boiling water for about 1 minute, then transfer them into a bowl of ice water for 1 minute. The skin should slide right off. </p>



<p><strong>How to know if a Peach is ripe: </strong>Ripe peaches are soft, and smell amazing! If your peaches are still hard, place them in a paper bag for a day or two. This helps them ripen faster.</p>



<p><strong>Get all the peach flavor: </strong>When straining the simple syrup, use the back of a spoon to gently squeeze the cooked peaches to get every bit of that fresh peach flavor into your sugar syrup. </p>

<p><strong>Italian Soda </strong>- A peach Italian Soda can be made by adding 2-4 tablespoons of syrup to a tall glass of iced sparkling water or soda. Make it extra delicious with a splash of cream or half and half. </p>



<p><strong>Iced Tea</strong> - Drizzle your peach simple syrup into a glass of iced tea until you get the sweetness level you like. Sweet peach tea is the ultimate summer drink. </p>



<p><strong>Lemonade</strong> - Use simple syrup in place of some or all of the sugar in your homemade lemonade recipe. </p>



<p><strong>Cocktail Recipes</strong> - Try one of these <a href="https://www.thespruceeats.com/peach-cocktail-recipes-4145028" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fancy peach cocktails</a>, or read a bit further where I give you the easy version! </p>

<p><strong>As a Topping: </strong>Peach simple syrup is SO GOOD on vanilla ice cream, or mixed in with greek yogurt or <a href="https://vegetarianmamma.com/unsweetened-applesauce/">unsweetened applesauce</a>. Try it on pancakes or drizzled over a halved grapefruit with breakfast too. </p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">A SIMPLE COCKTAIL WITH PEACH SIMPLE SYRUP</h3>



<p>Even if you aren't a master mixologist, <strong>you can create a delicious cocktail using this peach flavored simple syrup. </strong></p>



<p><strong>Peach syrup plays well with bourbon, rum, vodka, tequila, and even gin! </strong></p>



<p>Cocktail mixing isn't an exact science, but I like to use this general formula to make simple syrup cocktails: </p>



<p><strong>1 ounce peach simple syrup + 1 ounce spirits + a mixer (as much as you like). </strong></p>

<li>Vodka, peach simple syrup, and a splash of lemonade. </li>



<li>Bourbon, peach simple syrup, and a bit of iced tea. </li>



<li>Tequila, peach simple syrup, and margarita mix. </li>



<li>Gin, peach simple syrup, and tonic water.</li>



<li>Add peach simple sryup to prosecco to create a beach bellini style drink. </li>



<li>Make the best peach mocktail with peach simple syrup and your favorite flavored seltzer water. </li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">WHY IS SIMPLE SYRUP USED IN COCKTAILS?</h3>



<p>You might be wondering why we'd go through the trouble of making a simple syrup when we could just add sugar to the drinks. <strong>We use simple syrup in cold drinks like cocktails, mocktails, and iced teas because the sugar is dissolved first. </strong>If we just added sugar, it wouldn't dissolve and would just pile in the bottom of the glass. </p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">DO YOU HAVE TO BOIL SIMPLE SYRUP?</h3>



<p>Technically, sugar will dissolve in water without boiling, it just takes a while. It can take up to 45 minutes for sugar to dissolve in room temperature water. </p>



<p>The reason that we cook and boil fruit-infused simple syrups like this peach one is so that we can extract all of the delicious fresh flavor from the fruit. </p>



<p>Boiling will also destroy any naturally occurring microbes and bacteria that might be present in the mixture, which is better from a food-safety standpoint.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">PEACH SIMPLE SYRUP VARIATIONS</h3>



<p>Once you've made this peach simple syrup once, you'll start coming up with ideas to make it even more delicious! Here are a few places for you to start experimenting. </p>



<ol class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Sugar: </strong>Simple syrup can be made with any type of sugar. It works with regular white granulated sugar, cane sugar (including turbinado and demerara sugar), brown sugar, or coconut palm sugar. Sugars other than white sugar will provide additional flavors too. </li>



<li><strong>Try it with Honey: </strong>This natural sugar makes a delicious peach simple syrup. Use a 2:1 honey to water ratio to get the right consistency in your final product. </li>



<li><strong>Change the Ratio:</strong> Simple syrup uses a 1:1 ratio. That's one part sugar to one part liqud. You can adjust this to get a thicker syrup. A sugar syrup made with 2 parts sugar to one part water is sometimes called a rich simple syrup. </li>



<li><strong>Add Herbs: </strong>Peach Mint Simple Syrup? Peach Lavendar Simple Syrup? Yes please! Toss in a handfull of fresh herbs to the pan to add rich layers of flavor to this summer sweet treat. </li>

<p>The term "simple syrup" is given to a mixture that is made from sugar and water or another liquid. The liquid is heated so that the sugar will melt. Once the sugar is melted, it will stay that way, creating a syrup.</p>

<p>Simple syrup is often used in bars and coffee shops to sweeten drinks.&nbsp;<strong>Simple syrup is better than sugar for cold drinks because the sugar is already dissolved.</strong>&nbsp;You won't end up with granules of undissolved sugar at the bottom of your iced coffee or iced tea if you sweeten it with simple syrup.</p>

<p><strong>Four easy ingredients are needed to make a homemade Raspberry Simple Syrup!</strong></p>



<p><strong>Granulated Sugar </strong>- Granulated sugar is the basic building block of any simple syrup!</p>



<p><strong>Raspberries </strong>- Use fresh raspberries in this recipe for best results. If you don't have fresh raspberries, you can also use frozen berries. I often find that they are sweeter than fresh ones. </p>



<p><strong>Water</strong> - To make a simple syrup, you'll use the same amount of water as sugar. </p>



<p><strong>Lemon Juice</strong> - Freshly squeezed lemon juice adds brightness and enhances the flavor of the berries. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">HOW TO MAKE RASPBERRY SIMPLE SYRUP</h3>



<ol class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Gather and prepare your ingredients.&nbsp;</strong>Rinse the raspberries, and measure out the right amount of water and sugar. Freshly squeeze a lemon for its juice.</li>



<li><strong>Add all of the ingredients to a saucepan</strong>&nbsp;and stir to combine.</li>



<li><strong>Heat on medium heat until the mixture begins to boil.</strong>&nbsp;Then&nbsp;<strong>reduce the heat to low and let it cook, simmering for 10 minutes</strong>. Stir occasionally.</li>



<li>Remove the pan from the heat and&nbsp;<strong>let the mixture cool for at least 15 minutes.</strong> After it has cooled and the flavor has steeped,&nbsp;<strong>remove the berries and seeds by straining the mixture through a fine sieve.</strong> </li>



<li><strong>Discard the raspberry pulp</strong>, leaving behind a beautiful red raspberry syrup.</li>



<li><strong>Transfer the syrup to a jar</strong>&nbsp;or another airtight container for storage.</li>
</ol>

<p>If you aren't going to use your simple syrup right away, you can<strong>&nbsp;store it in the fridge for up to two weeks</strong>! I like to keep mine in a glass jar in the door of the fridge. Then I can easily grab it to pour into drinks!</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">HOW LONG DOES SIMPLE SYRUP WITH FRUIT LAST?</h3>



<p>While plain simple syrup could potentially stay fresh for a month or more, syrups made with fruit like raspberries or peaches need to be enjoyed more quickly. This recipe should last up to 2 weeks if properly stored in the fridge. </p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">HOW TO USE RASPBERRY SIMPLE SYRUP</h3>



<p><strong>As a Topping:</strong> Pour raspberry simple syrup over a bowl of ice cream, a cup of Greek yogurt, <a href="https://vegetarianmamma.com/unsweetened-applesauce/">unsweetened applesauce</a>, or over a bowl of fresh fruit. </p>



<p><strong>With Baked Goods: </strong>In bakeries, simple syrup is often brushed on top of cakes before frosting to keep them moist and flavorful. A drizzle of raspberry syrup can also revive a cake or cupcake that has become stale. You can use this simple syrup as a dessert sauce to decorate plates too!</p>



<p><strong>Make an Italian Soda:</strong> It's so easy to make these at home, and super fun too! Just add 2-4 tablespoons of raspberry simple syrup to a tall glass of iced sparkling water or soda. Make it extra delicious with a splash of cream or half and half.</p>



<p><strong>Iced Tea:</strong> Add raspberry flavor and sweetness to your brewed iced tea or summer Sun Tea. </p>



<p><strong>Lemonade: </strong>Yum! Raspberry pink lemonade is delicious. Just drizzle in a tablespoon or two. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">RASPBERRY SIMPLE SYRUP VARIATIONS</h3>



<p>Once you have this recipe committed to memory (it's easy! <strong>1 part water to 1 part sugar, plus some raspberries and lemon juice</strong>) you'll be ready to experiment. Try these variations, or come up with your own exciting new recipes. </p>



<p><strong>Sugar: </strong>Simple syrup can be made with any type of granulated sugar. White sugar is fine, but cane sugar (turbinado or demerara) or coconut palm sugar can be used just the same. Brown sugar simple syrup has a richness to it that is really delicious too. </p>



<p><strong>Try Honey:</strong> For a more natural simple syrup, make it with honey. You should increase the amount of honey if you want the syrup to be thick since honey is a liquid already. </p>



<p><strong>Other Fruits:</strong> Use this same method to make Strawberry or blueberry simple syrup, or make a specialty syrup using a combination of different fruits. </p>



<p><strong>Elevate it:</strong> Take Raspberry simple syrup to another level by adding herbs, spices, and more! A small piece of ginger, a vanilla bean, or a handful of mint are all great flavor options that go well with raspberries. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" style="text-transform:uppercase">How to make a rich simple syrup</h3>



<p><strong>If the simple syrup is made using a higher ratio of sugar to water, it's called a "rich" simple syrup.</strong> This syrup is made with 2 cups of sugar to 1 cup of water and comes out thicker and sweeter. I like to make a rich raspberry simple syrup if I know I'm going to be using it to make ice cream sundaes. </p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">DO YOU NEED TO BOIL SIMPLE SYRUP?</h3>



<p>Interestingly, you don't need to boil simple syrup. A mixture of sugar and water in a 1:1 ratio will eventually dissolve, it just takes longer. Possibly a half hour or more. </p>



<p>The main reason that we bring the mixture to a boil and then simmer it is to extract all of the delicious flavor from the raspberries. </p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">CAN I MAKE RASPBERRY SIMPLE SYRYUP WITH FROZEN BERRIES?</h3>



<p>You certainly can! Frozen berries are as delicious as fresh ones. No need to thaw them, just toss them in and follow the recipe as written. </p>
