Vegan Croutons are the crunchy piece your favorite soup or salad is missing! You only need 5 pantry staples to whip up these homemade croutons.

VEGAN CROUTONS RECIPE
I live off of soup and salad all year long. They're simple and versatile, just like these Vegan Croutons! Add them to literally anything to save that vegan bread from ending up in the trash.
They're simply divine on top of my vegan potato soup or tossed into your favorite leafy salad. Add a punch of flavor to your dinner tonight with these super easy croutons.
INGREDIENTS IN VEGAN CROUTONS
Vegan bread: You can use your favorite plant-based bread for this simple crouton recipe. You can even save bread that's on the verge of going stale with this hack!
Oil: For the crunchiest croutons, you want just a little oil for that brown crispiness. Avocado, olive, canola — your call. You can also use vegan butter or Aquafaba instead.
Salt: I just use a pinch of salt to bring out the natural flavor of these croutons, the seasonings, and whatever I add them too. A little goes a long way here.
Garlic powder: Garlic powder is slightly sweeter than raw garlic and is perfect when you want seasoning but no garlic clumps. I use it on almost everything!
Italian seasoning: This dried seasoning blend is usually some combination of basil, oregano, rosemary, parsley, and thyme. If you're out, mix your own.

HOW TO MAKE VEGAN CROUTONS
- First, dice up your day-old bread and throw the cubes in a mixing bowl.
- Then, cover the cubes with oil.
- Be sure to stir very well so all the cubes are coated in the oil!
- Now, add the salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning to the mix.
- Stir again! You want as much seasoning on the cubes as possible. Spread the oiled bread on a lipped baking sheet with parchment paper and bake.
- Once they're golden brown and as crispy as you'd like, they're done! The croutons will continue to get crunchy as they cool.

HOW TO FREEZE CROUTONS
Whenever I have a loaf of vegan bread that's too crunchy for sandwiches, I whip out this vegan crouton recipe.
The best part: You can freeze them!
For the easiest frozen croutons, spread them out on a baking sheet and freeze until mostly solid. Then, you can transfer them to a freezer-safe bag or container for up to 3 months!
To use, just thaw! No reheating needed for these frozen vegan croutons.
WHAT'S THE BEST BREAD FOR VEGAN CROUTONS?
You can use any kind of vegan bread for the toastiest vegan croutons.
I usually have vegan sourdough, vegan French bread, or simple vegan sandwich bread around my house, so that's what I usually do.
Sandwich bread is the easiest to dice up since it's pre-sliced, but anything you can cube will work.
If your bread is too crunchy to dice, it may be too stale for croutons. But that's pretty rare!
You can even use gluten-free vegan bread in this crouton recipe!
