Sweet and Salty Tofu Bowls are loaded with delicious flavor. They are easy to make and have the perfect balance between sweet and salty!
Better Than Takeout
So I have this little obsession with this sweet and salty tofu bowl. It is true, I am addicted to this bowl.
I created this dish so that I could enjoy, at home, one of my favorite tofu bowls that I get when dining out. At home is so much easier, cheaper and oftentimes safer!
So I took the concept and made it my own. The original dish has carrots and cauliflower in it, but I opted for broccoli only.
Oh yes and the addition of green onions and sesame seeds...that is all me 🙂
One of the things I love most about this sweet and salty tofu bowl is that I can prep it in a double batch and have delicious lunches all week long!
Tasty! Easy! Lunches!
That sounds like a plan! I just grabbed some glass dishes from Amazon for my lunch prep.
Use A Seed or Nut Butter
I used SunButter as the "butter" in my sauce. We love SunButter at my house. If you have another seed butter or nut butter you prefer, go for it. Make it your own!

Leave me a comment below telling me if you are a fan of the sweet and salty flavor? Have you ever tried tofu?
Sweet and salty tofu sounds so delicious. As of now I don't have a favorite tofu recipe because we've just recently become vegetarians (month and a half now) but I'm so excited to try different recipes especially this one. Thanks for making it easy and delicious to switch from meat to meatless diet.
I am a huge fan of tofu dishes! Your Sweet and Salty Tofu Bowls look and sound absolutely amazing! Yummers!
I need to get brave and try tofu again. I am not good with the sponge like texture. This sounds so good though!
That tofu press is amazing! I don't get to eat tofu often but I've been wanting to add it into my meals more and this press may just encourage me to do that.
My family's favorite tofu recipe is Mark Bittman's Spinach, Tofu and Sesame stir-fry. We usually serve it on rice noodles but it's good on brown rice as well.
I love making Tofu and Spinach Quiche--I've made it for years and still love it!
Ohhh I need that tofu press in my life. I normally stack stuff on top of it to press my tofu! This recipe sounds perfect for my family.
Tofu is something I have never had before but will try anything once. This recipe I would love to try because it looks so good. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
I have quite a few tofu recipes I like, but right now my favorite is Spicy Asian Eggplant & Tofu Bowls (https://domesticsuperhero.com/spicy-asian-eggplant-tofu-bowls/)
Homefries with tofu from Horn of the Moon Cookbook
Do you think this sauce would do well with roasted cauliflower? I'm not a tofu fan.
Oh yes, I think it would! 😉
Tasted so good! But I can't get the sauce that smooth, hod do you get it that smooth? Mine was soft but it was still very think and it just didn't spread very well
Hi Rebecca, thanks for coming back and letting us know and thanks for the rating. For the sauce, you can thin it out by adding more oil to it. Different types and temps of the nut/seed butters can play into that smooth and thin look. I would try to add a touch more oil next time. Give it a try with a 1 t extra, whisk it and see if that helps. Then I would add more based upon how thin you want it. Once you get it perfected the sauce is delish to use on vegetables as well!
My family and I are "flexitarians" and I'm excited that I found this site! This recipe looks delicious and easy and I plan on making it this week. I typically marinate my tofu before I saute it. I'm thinking of making extra sauce so there will be enough for the bowl since the tofu will soak up whatever I marinate it in. Do you think it will be overpowering with the extra sauce? Thank you.
Hello Cheryl and welcome!! 🙂 We have So many tofu recipes be sure to check out our "tofu" category https://vegetarianmamma.com/category/recipes/tofu/. I do not think it will be overpowering if you marinate. I would double or triple the sauce, its my FAV! 🙂 If you try marinating it, let me know how it goes!
