INGREDIENTS IN AIR FRYER FRIED PICKLES
Pickles- Use a sliced dill pickle for this recipe.
Egg - Egg helps the breadcrumbs stick to the pickles.
Maple Syrup - Just a little bit gives this recipe a nice sweetness. You can leave it out if you like.
Panko - Use gluten free panko breadcrumbs if needed. Panko gives the right amount of crunch to our pickles.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH AIR FRYER FRIED PICKLES
Oh, this is getting me hungry with all this pickle talk! Whether you make your pickles in the air fryer or in the skillet, you need a good dipping sauce! Am I right?!
I am personally a big fan of dipping my air fryer pickles, deep-fried pickles OR pan-fried pickles into ranch dressing! You can use a commercial brand of ranch dressing, or make this homemade vegan ranch instead.
You could also use a spicy mayo or a comeback sauce.
WHAT KIND OF AIR FRYER DO I NEED?
People are falling in love with Air Fryers. I personally got mine as a Christmas gift from my mom. Thanks Mom!
I have the Power Air Fryer XL which was originally purchased from Kohls but is now available on Amazon.
The air fryer is designed to give food the crunch and crisp that you would get when you deep fry food, but without the oil.
You are cooking with little or no oil. So that means you are consuming less fat and fewer calories! That’s a win!

TIPS FOR MAKING FRIED PICKLES IN THE AIR FRYER
- Pat the pickles dry. You want to make sure before you dip them in the egg and bread crumbs.
- Like it spicy? Add some hot sauce to the egg mixture.
- Make these faster. You can use whole pickles, or use pickles already cut into rounds or spears.
- Run out of egg and pankos in your bowl? Just add more. No biggie. This recipe is MEGA easy, just add more if you need it.
- Use panko bread crumbs. Panko gives them extra crunch than regular bread crumbs. I used a gluten-free panko bread crumb mixture to meet my dietary restrictions. I specifically used an Ian's Italian Seasoned one and it was delicious. Use whatever panko bread crumbs fit your needs and your taste.
- Keep an eye on your air fryer. Different brands can cook differently.
HOW TO SOLVE SOGGY FRIED PICKLES
Pickles can hold quite a bit of moisture. If you end up with soggy pickles it is probably because the pickles had a wee bit too much of moisture in them. Next time around, go ahead and pat dry the pickles before coating with the mixture.
ADD HOT SAUCE FOR SPICY FRIED PICKLES
If you LOVE a little spice or hotness to your food, I have a fix for you! You can add some hot sauce to the liquid mixture during the coating process. This will help give those little pickles some KICK!
CAN I AIR FRY A WHOLE PICKLE?
You can start with a whole pickle. Do you know the ones that are sold in a big jar on deli counters? You can start with those and use a crinkle cutter (affiliate ad link) to make slices! If you want to make life easy you can just opt for pickle chips that are already pre-cut!

I'm still wondering if an air fryer would make good chicken wings. Your friend pickles look delicious! I know my family would eat them up. I'm trying to decide if an air fryer would give us more reason to eat the healthy foods we need or cause us to fry the foods we don't fry now. Haha
I think it would. I can't personally say yes, since I've never tried it but being a former meat eater I would bet that they would be delicious! 🙂 Ha, I think its a mix of both. You'll probably try new foods, some might be healthier but it also makes for a good excuse to eat some of those ones that you don't fry now LOL Its a mix 🙂
Wings in the air fryer are awesome! And you don’t really “fry” anything so it’s not like your making anything more unhealthy by using the air fryer. It’s just replacing your oven. Brussel sprouts in the air fryer are delicious and crispy!
I got my mom an air fryer for Christmas and she is SO excited to try wings!
Great recipe. I am always fond of having pickles and the recipe you have shared seems very delicious. i will try thi air fryer fried pickles recipe at home . thanks for sharing.
Oh my gosh I want to try this! I had fried pickles at Texas Road House once and they were incredibly salty. I couldn't take another bite, but since then I felt jipped and wanted another chance at this is just another excuse for me to go get an air fryer.
You had me at healthy and delicious! I would love to try making this recipe. I’m sure that taste as delicious as they look!
I have this air fryer but a different model and I really enjoy it, I have never thought of frying pickles though, I love pickles so I am definitely going to give this a try.
I really need to get an air fryer. Does it take a ton of work to cook and clean with it? Typically that's what turns me off when buying a new kitchen tool or gadget.
It does not. The clean up is simple. There is a metal basket that comes out of the bottom part. Can easily clean both in the sink or dishwasher! Score!
I don't have an air fryer, but I kind of wish I did. I'm not the biggest fried food lover, but I do adore a good crisp, fried pickle. These look so delicious.
Thank you for the recipe! I'm intrigued to give it a go with Jalapenos instead.
Pickles are one of my favorites, but rarely do I get it fried. Air fried is even better. Yum.
I've been wanting to try an air fryer. I'd love to sample the pickle recipe.
Oh wow. You totally convinced me to get an air fryer. I have been thinking of getting one but I had limited ideas on what to use it for. Not anymore. Those fried pickles look amazing!
This recipe sounds great! I don't have an air fryer, but would love to try them! Would it work to bake in the oven at 400 degrees?
Great question. I am not honestly sure, but its worth a try! Here are pan frying instructions if you want to try that route: https://vegetarianmamma.com/gluten-free-fried-pickles/ 🙂
There are so many people on here that don't have an AF trust e when you get one you will find a reason to make everything it's the new 2018 toy for me i just love it, I have the Todd English 9.8 it's good size i have o problem cooking anything.. I cook fried chick, chicken wings and fries and you name it,,But if your on the fence about geting one get off and you won't be sorry... And I love fried pickles had them at Longhorn Steakhouse and OMG they were so good never thought i would like them..Best of Luck to you on trying one.
Just had these. They are delicious! I may try getting the dill pickles that are sliced lengthwise for sandwiches, to see if I can get more pickle at once.
Oh that sounds amazing! The longer pickles would do great! Let me know how it works out!
I used to have a fry daddy...it was a wedding gift many years ago. I think I used it twice then got rid of it because it wasn't very healthy. But an air fryer is different! I think I need one of these!
This recipe is amazing. I don't have an airfryer yet, but one of my best friends has been raving about their's for the past couple of months.
I don't eat pickles but it looks like a great way for me to eat pickles. This recipe looks so good and delicious will definitely try to make this at home.
This sounds an amazing pickles recipe. I need to try this and I am sure this will be gone for a minute in our table. Thanks for sharing this delicious recipe with us.
Wow! That's definitely serious for gluten free eaters. My bff is all gluten free and she could never eat anything fried. I feel like I need to surprise her with this!
I just made this. It was really yummy. What type of pickle chips did you use? I used Famous Dave’s signature spicy pickle chips. And the flavor was a bit overpowering. Also do you leave the chips in the egg dip for any amount of time? My bread crumbs didn’t seem to stick as well as your photo. I will make them again. Thanks you for the recipe!!!
Hi Sue! I've used a variety of pickles. That time around I used grillos pickles. I found them in the refridge section at my Kroger and Whole Foods :0 I didn't leave the chips in the egg a specific amount of time but I did make sure that I flipped the pickle chips to make sure they are completely covered with egg. Then once in the bread crumb mixture, sometimes you have to gently pat the crumbs onto the pickles. Sometime they need an extra helping hand, depending on the pickle 🙂 You are so welcome!
I'm still trying new recipes in my air fryer, and this sounds like a fun one for game day snacks! I'll have to try the air fryer grilled cheese recipe and for tofu too. Yum!
Perfect for game day!! So many good things come from the air fryer!
Ah, the universe is talking to me today and all I see is great ideas for air fryer recipes! I've been on the fence and think that I see an air fryer in my future. : ) I'd love to try your recipe for fried pickles.
Seriously, the air fryer has been the best purchase! Listen to the universe today 🙂
My Christmas wish list this year has an air fryer on it as item #1. Once Santa delivers, I'm totally trying these fried pickles, they sound amazing.
Mine came from Santa too! 🙂
Now this recipe is how I am going to convince my fiance that I need just one more appliance - these look amazing!!
