Air Fryer Morel Mushroom Recipe
Morel mushrooms are popular in the spring, when they are eagerly sought out by mushroom hunting fanatics! The mushrooms grow wildly in wooded areas.
They are pretty popular because they come around one time a year and they are not farmed like your common grocery store mushrooms.
Morels have a deep earthy and almost nutty flavor, which keeps mushroom lovers come back for more! And more and more! If you are a mushroom lover you also need to try Air Fryer Oyster Mushrooms.
Morel Mushroom Facts
- Morel mushrooms are low in calories and come fresh, frozen and dried in many grocery stores.
- The mushrooms carry antioxidants, minerals and vitamins. Morels carry the highest amount of vitamin D among the edible types of mushrooms.
- Morel mushrooms are rich in copper, iron and zinc.
- If you are able to get your hands on some morel mushrooms in the grocery store, they are typically pretty costly since they are hand picked in the wild.
We have covered what morel mushrooms are, but what are the air fryer part? Are you new to air frying? Or maybe want to learn more?
What is an Air Fryer?
It is a countertop appliance that will soon win your heart over! It is basically a smaller (the inside of it) type of convection oven that moves very hot air around.
The circulating air cooks your food quickly and evenly. I am guessing that you have probably seen an air fryer infomercial or two!
While smaller inside than a convection oven, the outside is often typically the size of a toaster oven or slightly smaller. Many people buy air fryers (affiliate ad link) to use when camping in their RV or even for cooking “stinky” foods (think air fryer broccoli) outside.
WHY I LOVE MY AIR FRYER!
- This kitchen gadget is easy to use, straight out of the box.
- There are endless recipes you can make!
- Cook times are faster than your conventional oven and often food is equally heated.
- The cook time of a recipe is the actual time, unlike waiting for the pressure to rise on your instant pot or your oven to preheat!
- It uses a lot less oil!
- You can easily adapt recipes you already!
When it comes to morel mushroom recipes, I think fried morel mushrooms are the best. So today, we are getting that fried morel mushroom taste by using our air fryer!

Tips for making Air Fryer Morel Mushrooms
- I prefer to boil my morels 1-3 minutes to help loosen any dirt or tiny critters (remember these are wild mushrooms) that might be hiding in the mushroom.
- You do not have to spray the mushrooms with oil, however by giving them a little spritz of oil, it helps the crushed cracker mixture to brown nicely and crisp up.
- Be sure to remove the air fryer basket mid way through and shake. This helps to prevent the air fryer morel mushrooms from sticking together and to the air fryer basket. (affiliate ad link)
